Welcome to RJ Harris dot com. I purchased my domain in the infancy of the Internet, so that I would have the same email address the rest of my life. Since curious friends and listeners sometimes stop by, I decided to put some simple content up here. WARNING: It's all about me. Radio, rocks, politics, and family. Thanks for stopping.
I am the morning host on WHP 580 in Harrisburg, PA. WHP went on the air in 1925 as WMBS. WHP is still rated #1 in most every Arbitron survey. I started in radio at age 14 at WRAW in Reading, PA, and have been blessed to work in great markets like New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Nashville, and Sacramento.

WYNY (NBC) New York- Mornings, WAPP (Doubleday) New York- Mornings, WLUP (The Loop) Chicago- Mornings, WYSP Philadelphia- Program Director, KXOA Sacramento- Mornings, WISN/WLPX (Hearst) Milwaukee- Mornings/Program Manager, WLAC/WKQB (Billboard Magazine) Nashville- Program Director.

My family I came home to Pennsylvania to stay in Fall 1989. Central PA played a significant role early in my career, having worked on WAHT, WIOO, WCMB, Starview 92. My first management job was at WIOO at   age 19.

Of all of the stations that I have ever worked on, WHP is by far my favorite. I have been a talk radio junkie for years... and it is great to be on one of the consistently highest rated stations in America!

My favorite mic, the Sure SM7 to the left.

I knew at age 12 that I wanted to be a radio disc jockey, but prior to that was aim was to be a geologist. Rocks, minerals, and fossils are still one of my great passions. I am an avid field collector and have served three terms as president of the Central PA Rock and Mineral Club. Rockhouding is great fun and excellent exercise. Please stop by the club's website to learn more. Click underneath the logo to your right.

To the left, a piece of strontianite, self-collected, at National Limestone in Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA.

Amateur Radio, commonly known as ham radio, has been an important part of my life. I was licensed as WA3LIV in 1968. My current call sign is W3HP. Hams are considered vital first responders by Congress. It is hams who get the message through in times of crisis.
